Poder’s mission is to provide the necessary academic tools to promote human dignity, to increase employment potential, and to facilitate participation in the larger community. Since 1997, we have responded to the educational needs of adult immigrants in the primarily Latino areas of Pilsen/Little Village and Back of the Yards on Chicago’s southwest side. In less than fifteen years, more than 6,750 students have attended our tuition free classes. With new immigrants arriving daily, the need for Poder’s services has never been greater.
